A Galaxy Far, Far Away Meets the Marvel Universe

The crossover will take familiar Star Wars characters—including Luke Skywalker, Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca—into Marvel’s Earth-616.

There, they’ll encounter some of Marvel’s biggest heroes, including Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and Hulk.

The event will also bring some major villains into the story, including Darth Vader and Doctor Doom, creating the kind of combination fans of both franchises have never seen in an official crossover comic.

Kevin Smith Is Writing the Series

The five-part series is being written by filmmaker and comic-book writer Kevin Smith, with artwork by David Marquez.

Smith has previously worked on Marvel titles including Daredevil, while Marquez is known for his work on books including Uncanny X-Men and Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man.

That creative team makes the project particularly notable beyond the crossover itself.

Why Is Hope Assembles Happening Now?

The crossover is timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

The original Star Wars film was released in 1977, making 2027 a major anniversary year for the franchise.

Hope Assembles is therefore positioned as a celebration of both Star Wars and Marvel, while also giving readers a completely new meeting between their characters.

When Does Hope Assembles Come Out?

Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles will launch in January 2027 as a five-part limited comic series.

The story is expected to continue through May 2027.
